Dr. Pramod Kumar Gupta, born in 1979, graduated from College of Agriculture, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya (JNKVV) Jabalpur in 2003 and subsequently did M.Sc. (Ag.) Plant Pathology in 2005 from same university. Awarded Ph.D. in 2014 under the guidance of eminent scientist Dr. Robin Gogoi, Plant Pathology, IARI, New Delhi. Started service career as Senior Research Fellow and Research Associate at Plant Pathology, IARI New Delhi in 2007 and was selected for the post of Scientist (Plant Protection) in 2011 in JNKVV, Jabalpur. As an Extension plant pathologist.

Awards/Honours: Honoured with M.J. Narsimhan Medal Award for best research paper by Indian Phytopathological Society, New Delhi in 2011 and Scroll of Honour in recognition of dedicated services to the Indian Phytopathological Society as Zonal Councillor (Central Zone) 2017, Best poster presentation award during the IPS CZ chapter at Jabalpur on December 14-15, 2017 Challenges and opportunities: Management of Plant Diseases under Weather Change”  JNKVV, Jabalpur (M.P), Best oral presentation award during the Extension Plant Pathology: Technological Backstopping to the Farmers/ Other Stakeholders during September 25-26, 2018 at IGKV, Raipur and Best KVK Scientist Award by Indian Society of Extension Education New Delhi. Honoured with S. Sinha Memorial Award 2020 by Indian Phytopathological Society if India during 72nd Annual Meeting of the Society; “Outstanding Scientist Award-2020” (PAAS-2020) to be Jointly Organized by (AETDS), U.S. Nagar, Uttarakhand.

Fellow: Fellow of Indian Phyotopathological Society, New Delhi 2021and Fellow of Society of Plant Protection Sciences (SPPS) New Delhi 2022.

Research Areas: Associated with new records of fungi, developed best module for the management of diseases, IFS models for the farmers. Studied the development of Fusarium Wilt in Chickpea (Cicer arietinum) cultivars as influenced by weather variables, Assessment of yield and economic losses in agriculture due to weeds in India, Efficacy of Microbial bio-pesticides and Effect of Trichoderma on severity of seedling rot of chilli, First Report of Sclerotium rolfsii on Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) in India, Taught Plant Pathology courses to B.Sc. (Ag.) and M.Sc. Ag. & PhD Plant Pathology (Bacteriology) students and more than 160 training conducted in Farmers’ fields for technology transfer.

Published more than 52 research papers in Indian and foreign journals apart from technical bulletins, manuals, book chapters, and review papers. Guided 13 M.Sc. (Ag) and one PhD student as major advisor. Attended 07 CAFT training, Councillor and Co-organising secretary of National Symposium on "Challenges and Opportunities: Management of Plant Diseases under weather change" during December 14-15, 2017 at College of Agriculture, JNKVV, Jabalpur by Indian Phytopathological Society (Central Zone Chapter).
