Birth & Educations: Borne in Tara Tea Estate, completed school education at Doom Dooma of Tinsukia district, Assam, did pre-degree (Science) from Jagannath Barooah College, B. Sc. (Agri, 1987) & M.Sc. (Agri, 1989) from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute in 1997.

Positions hold: Joined College of Agriculture, AAU, Jorhat as Assistant Professor in 1990. Later he joined ICAR-IARI, in the Division of Plant Pathology in 2006. Secretary of Indian Phytopathological Society (IPS). He has served the Society as Joint Secretary (2017-19), Zonal Councillor (North-eastern chapter, 2002), Zonal President (Delhi chapter, 2013), Associate Editor of Indian Phytopathology (2012-16), Senior Editor of Indian Phytopath News (2018-19).

Awards/Honours: Nanaji Deshmukh ICAR Award for Outstanding Interdisciplinary Team Research (2019), IPS Best Teacher Award of Indian Phytopathological Society (2020), Best Researcher of 6^th Academic Brilliance Awards (2018), Prof. H. C. Dube Outstanding Young Scientist Award (2008), Prof. M. J. Narasimhan Academic Award (1998), IARI Gold Medal (1998), Cash Prize of Gujarat Agro- Industries Corporation Limited in M. Sc (1989) etc.

Fellow: Fellow of Indian Phytopathological Society (FIPS) and Indian Society of Mycology & Plant Pathology (ISMPP), and Life Member of 9 scientific societies.

Research Areas: Fungal pathology with specialization in maize, wheat, rice, potato, ginger and flower disease management, host-pathogen interaction, nano-biotechnology and mushroom cultivation technology.
