Dr. Totawar completed his M.Sc. in Plant Pathology in 1995 from Dr.
PDKV, Akola, with a dissertation entitled “Studies on fruit rot of papaya
caused by Colletotrichum dematium” under the guidance of Prof. K.B. Gahukar,
and was awarded Second Division. He obtained his Ph.D. in Plant Pathology in
2001 from the same university, earning First Division for his research titled
“Comparative antagonistic studies of Trichoderma spp. and some mutants against
Rhizoctonia bataticola” under the supervision of Prof. R.B. Somani. He began
his academic career as Assistant Professor at Anand Niketan College of
Agriculture, Warora, District Chandrapur, where he served from April 2001 to
July 2006, and was subsequently promoted to Assistant Professor (Senior Scale),
serving there until November 2009. Since November 2009, he has been working as
Associate Professor (Direct Recruitment) under the All India Coordinated
Research Project on Tropical Fruits and at the College of Agriculture, Akola,
Dr. PDKV, Akola. His total service spans from 11 April 2001 to 31 December
2023, amounting to 22 years, 9 months and 27 days. Dr. Totawar has received
several prestigious awards, including the P. P. Singhal Memorial PI Industries
Award (2010) for research paper presentation at the XXXII Annual Conference and
National Symposium of ISMPP held at Junagadh Agricultural University, Udaipur,
and the Dr. K.G. Joshi Cash Prize (2013–14) for outstanding research work of
immediate benefit to farmers. He has contributed significantly to varietal development
as Co-Principal Investigator, leading to the release of six crop varieties,
namely PDKV Bahar and PDKV Chakradhar Seedless (Acid Lime) in 2014, PDKV Nagpur
Santra (PDKV Mandarin-5) and PDKV Trupti (Akola Lime-3) in 2017, and PDKV Tilak
(Paddy) and TAM 108-1 (Mustard) in 2018. Dr. Totawar has also made important
research recommendations for the management of gummosis, mites, citrus psylla,
and canker and twig blight prediction in citrus crops, contributing
substantially to integrated disease and pest management practices. He is a Life
Member of several professional bodies, including the Journal of Plant Disease
Science, PKV Research Journal, Indian Phytopathological Society, and the Indian
Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology. He affirms that all information
