Brief Biodata

Dr Gurjar educated at SKN College of Agriculture, Jobner under RAU, Bikaner (Raj.) for MSc (Plant Pathology) and at Division of Plant Pathology, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi for PhD (Plant Pathology). Presently Dr Gurjar is working as Senior Scientist at Division of Plant Pathology, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. Initially, He has joined at ICAR-CPRI, Central Potato Research Station, Shillong (Meghalaya)-NEH region of India.


He has contributed as Treasurer (2020-2023) and presently also serving as Treasurer, Indian Phytopathological Society. Dr Gurjar has also received the Fellow of IPS, Fellow of IMS and MK Patel Young scientist of IPS.  Also, serving as Secretary, Faculty Club, IARI; Warden, Shishir, IARI.

 

Presently, he is working on wheat and barley diseases mainly on pathogenomics of fungal plant pathogens, genetic diversity, host resistance and management strategies. Significant achievements are full genome sequencing (5) like Tilletia indica (33.7 Mb), Tilletia caries (38.18 Mb), Bipolaris sorokiniana (37.38 Mb), Bipolaris oryzae (34.91 Mb), Bipolaris maydis (36.05 Mb). Population dynamics and developed diagnostic marker for detection of T. indica, GWAS of virulence genes in T. indica, Identified few pathogenicity-related genes in T. indica, Transcriptome profiling in wheat-Tilletia indica, wheat-Bipolaris sorokiniana, Functionally validated of TiHog gene in T. indica, Microbiome approach to manage the fungal pathogens of wheat and barley, Developed potato aeroponics technology at CPRS, Shillong, Establishment /functioning of Potato Chips processing, resistant potato germplasm against late blight, Developed fungicides spray schedule for management of late blight, Identified potato bacterial wilt caused by strains of phylotype I, II and IV of Ralstonia solanacearum.

 

Published 83 research papers in referred International/National journals, new disease reports (2), about 500 gene sequences in NCBI Genbank, 5 Books, 15 chapters, Citations: 1423; hi: 16; i10: 25.

 

Guided 6 MSc students at IARI, guiding 6 PhD students, involved in teaching, guiding students; extension activities; Best oral and poster presentation awards, best poster awards; conducted Kisan Melas (4) and farmer’s trainings (15); presented lead/invited talks in many workshops/conferences/symposia in India and abroad; presented a paper in ICPP 2018 at Boston, USA.
