Birth & Educations: I was born in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh on 1st January 1978. I
did my early schooling and Intermediate (SCD Govt. College Ludhiana) from
Ludhiana. I completed my B.Sc. Ag. (Hons.) and M.Sc. Plant Pathology from
Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Ludhiana in the year 2001 and 2003
respectively. I joined as ARS (ICAR) in April 24, 2010 at ICAR-NBAIM, Mau and did
my doctorate from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Varanasi in the year
2016. Currently working as Senior
Scientist in Plant Pathology at ICAR-IISR, Lucknow. I have published 40
research articles, 5 review articles, 15 book chapters, 12 popular articles, 2
technical bulletins, 5 training manuals, 32 manual chapters and more than 40
abstracts in different national and international conferences. Streptomyces
amritsarensis V31 help to control diverse phytopathogenic fungi like Alternaria
alternata, Aspergillus flavus, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici,
Sarocladium oryzae, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, and Rhizoctonia solani had
been reported (Braz J Microbiol. 2021. doi: 10.1007/s42770-021-00625-w). Novel
candidate pathogenicity genes were identified in Rhizoctonia solani AG1IA with microsatellite markers (J Mycol Pl Pathol 50 (3): 249-262). Developed a rapid colorimetric LAMP assay for detection of Rhizoctonia solani AG-1IA causing sheath
blight of rice (Scientific Reports,
10:22022; https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-020-79117-0.) We also developed
bacterial consortia for salt stress management in solanaceous crops in India
(Indian Phytopathology, DOI: 10.1007/s42360-019-00174-1). Developed and
standardized rapid high throughput template preparation (rHTTP) method: A novel
cost-effective method of direct PCR for plants (BMC Biotechnology, 19:69). noxB based marker was developed for specific and early detection
of Alternaria
spp. in crop plants (3 Biotech (2019) 9:249. DOI:
10.1007/s13205-019-1779-4). Phytosterols were identified as potential inhibitor of Alternaria arborescens using
computational identification and antifungal bioassay (Journal of Biomolecular
Structure and Dynamics, DOI:10.1080/07391102.2019.1597767).Genome-wide analysis of microsatellites in Alternaria arborescens and elucidation of the function of Polyketide synthase” (PksJ) was done (Interdisciplinary Sciences: Computational Life Sciences, DOI
10.1007/s12539-017-0251-6). Profiling of Phytophthora
infestans populations for metalaxyl resistance and its management with
novel action fungicides (J Mycol Plant Pathol. 40(1): 14-21).
Identified actinomycetes as a potential bio-control agent of Ustilaginoidea virens causing false smut
of rice (Indian Phytopathology https://doi.org/10.1007/s42360-022-00460-5).
Completed more than 10 scientific research projects. I have guided 6 M.Sc.
students. Acted as convener and chaired sessions in national and international
conferences. Conducted many workshops, trainings and extension activities. Delivered
many invited lectures in trainings and at different scientific forum. I am
member of editorial board in many scientific societies and reviewed many
manuscripts. Acted as co-chairman in the regional conference on Prioritizing
Crop –specific Technologies for sustainable profitability: The Uttar Pradesh
Chapter (RC-PCSTSP-UPC-2022 on April 29-30, 2022 at ICAR-IISR, Lucknow, 226002.
Acted as External examiner for Viva Voce (M.Sc.) in many exams. Developed technologies,
processes, models, methods, Products. Attended many trainings as well.
Positions
hold: Scientist, Senior Scientist, Administrative officer, Chairman and member in various Institute
committees
Awards/Honours: Got
first prize for “P.P. Singhal Memorial Pesticide India Award” 2009 by Indian
Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Udaipur, for research work on
“Profiling of Phytophthora infestans
populations for metalaxyl resistance and its management with novel action
fungicides; Best poster award in 7th international conference, 6-20,
Jan, 2020 at IARI, New Delhi, on Phytopathology in achieving UN sustainable
development goals, on the topic Characterization of Villosiclava virens causing false smut of rice and its bio control
in India, pp. 106-107.
