Dr. Mayee worked for 25 years as Professor in SAU in India and worked extensively on biology, epidemiology and management of various diseases of rain fed crops of Central India. His work on peanut, sunflower, sorghum, pigeon pea and pearl millet has been published in many International Journals. His contribution towards understanding the mechanism of synergism between two viruses has been acclaimed as basic to the understanding of the synergism phenomena. As Director of Cotton Institute, he has been credited with the release of first GM crop, Bt cotton in India in 2002. Dr. Mayee received several national awards such as, ICAR-team research, Dr. Vishwanath Award, Recognitions from several societies. He guided 20 PhD and 38 M.Sc. students and has been Alexander von Humboldt Fellow in Germany. He visited nearly 45 countries in pursuits of science and technology. Currently engaged in advisory role to several organizations and farmers groups.
