1. Mundkur Memorial Lecture Award
Instituted in the memory of Dr. B.B. Mundkur, the founder of the Society. Dr. J.F. Dastur, was the first person to deliver this lecture in 1963.
2. Jeersannidhi Award Lecture
Instituted by Late Dr. M.J. Thirumalachar in the memory of their family God in 1981.
3. Prof. S.N. Dasgupta Memorial Lecture
In 1994 instituted to recognise the contribution of Prof. S.N. Dasgupta.
4. Prof. M.S. Pavgi Award Lecture
Instituted in 1990 to recognize the contribution of Dr. M.S. Pavgi in the field of Mycology and Plant Pathology.
5. K.C. Mehta and Manoranjan Mitra Award
Instituted for writing a review article in Indian Phytopathology
6. A.P. Misra Life Time Achievement Award
Instituted to recognize the contribution of Late Prof. A.P. Misra in 2000.
7. Prof. M.K. Patel Memorial Young Scientist Award
The award will be given annually to any individual in recognition of his/her professional contribution in Plant Pathology and is open to the members of the Society who are not more than 40 years of age as on 31 st December of the year. The work done for any degree or diploma shall not be considered within the purview of contribution for this award. The award will be delivered in the Zonal Symposium of respective zones from which the awardee is selected by rotation among the zones. The awardee will be felicitated in the National Symposium.
8. Prof. J.F. Dastur Memorial Lecture Award will also be delivered annually in the Zonal Symposium of respective zones from which the awardee is selected by rotation among the zones. The awardee will be felicitated in the National Symposium.
9. Prof. A.K. Sarbhoy Memorial Lecture Award
Instituted to recognize the contribution of Late Prof. A.K. Sarbhoy in 2008.
10. Prof. J.P. Verma Memorial Lecture Award
Instituted to recognize the contribution of Late Prof. J.P. Verma in 2008.
Contests
Besides the awards mentioned about, the Society also organizes several award contests.
Prof. M.J. Narasimhan Academic Merit Award Contest
Instituted in 1979 to encourage young scientists and carries a cash award and a certificate. Since 1998, the contest is organized in two stages, first in the respective Zonal Chapters and then in the Annual Meeting. Each Zonal Chapter can recommend upto two names for the contest.
K.P.V. Menon Best Poster Paper
To promote the participation of the members in the Annual Meeting and National Symposium, the Society gives a medal and a certificate for the best paper presented in the poster session.
Best Research Paper
To encourage the members to publish their best research papers in Society's Journal “Indian Phytopathology”, the Society has instituted Best Research Paper Award every year in the form of a Certificate.
IPS travel sponsorship for young scientists
Applications are invited by the Society to provide travel sponsorship to 4 Ph.D. students to promote their participation in Annual Meeting as per terms and conditions given below:
(i) To and fro IInd Class ordinary train fare.
(ii) Waving off the registration fee.
(iii) Award of certificate for presenting their research findings.
(iv) He/she should be below 30 years of age.
(v) He/she should be a member of IPS prior to the submission of application.
A Screening Committee will screen the applications to select the suitable candidates based on their research work.
Fellow of Indian Phytopathological Society (FPSI)
Nominations for FPSI are invited from members of the Society on prescribed proforma supported by 10 best publications highlighting their contributions in the field of Plant Pathology on or before 31.10.2006. The candidates having 10 years continuous membership of the Society can apply. The applications will be scrutinized by the Committee. A sum of Rs. 3000/- shall be charged as FPSI fee from selected candidates.
